Construction Plans

Our 46 acre farm has been in the family for more than 50 years. But we also know that our farm has been continuously operating for more that 150 years, reflected in the timber frame barn that will be our tasting room, gift shop and customer lounge. We want our winery to be a fun place to visit for everyone, whether just stopping in to buy a bottle, to wanting to participate in a tasting, to just wanting to sit down, relax and enjoy a glass of wine. And with other local agricultural products available for sale, such as cheese and fruit, you can have a relaxing picnic lunch. For those who just can't get completely away, we will even offer wireless Internet access so you can surf while you enjoy your glass.

In addition to our indoor spaces, we will also have many relaxing areas around the barn to enjoy our wines when the weather is good. You could sit on our deck and casually enjoy the view of our pond and vineyards. Or you could retreat to our courtyard to enjoy some music and perhaps some other entertainment. For certain larger events, we will even have a nice grassy area by the pond to enjoy a nice picnic while taking in some local entertainment.

Our initial plans call for the construction of buildings to house our vineyard equipment and a small wine production facility. This facility will be used for the first few seasons until we need to make more wine. At that point we plan to build a larger production facility that will connect with the barn. The new facility will include a "connector" between the production facility and the barn that will include windows that will look down into the production area. This way you will be able to see how we make our wines without even setting foot in the production area. We will offer scheduled tours into the actual facility on occasion.

Both the barn and the production facility will have VIP event space, where we will be able to conduct special tastings and private parties. The main tasting area, gift shop and lounge will also be partitionable to enable us to host private parties as well.

We plan to decorate our barn with elements coming from Cecil County, the Bay and Maryland. This will include local art, antiques and other artifacts. We hope to include a live display containing Diamondback Terrapins, including information about their life and habitat. We are committed to helping our state reptile by both educating our visitors and donating a portion of our sales to their preservation and research. The terrapin display will also enable visitors to contribute directly.

As mentioned, our general contractor for our buildings is slated to be Joe Wey, Old Line Timberframes. We have also engaged an excellent architect that specializes in winery construction, Kristofer Sperry. Both of these gentlemen have been extremely patient with us as we refine our ideas for our winery. They both have excellent reputations for their work; please contact them if you think they can help you with your endeavors.

We are very excited about the plans for our winery, and believe it will be a very enjoyable experience for all who visit us. Combining modern equipment and techniques to make excellent, fun to drink wines with an easy-going experience in our winery will combine to make our winery a fun place to visit over and over again!
